My client is currently looking to recruit for a Security Guard / Caretaker
My client is an educational charity with modest resources and a very small staff.It is therefore essential that all members of staff work together and in close harmony in furthering the aims of our client, and in extending a courteous and welcoming reception to all visitors.
As Security Guard / Caretaker, you are responsible to the Curator for the whole of the premises and its contents. You are also an official keyholder, and in the event of an out-of-hours alarm call, you are required to attend the premises as quickly as possible to liaise with the external security company.
In your security duties, you are to:
1.Establish and maintain routine contact with the police, the fire service, the external security company and other keyholders.
2.Familiarise yourself with the security system and its operation.
3.Patrol the public areas, extend a welcome to visitors and offering advice and assistance to any visitors requiring it.
4.Ensure all permanent staff and volunteers are aware of emergency procedures.
5.Monitor the video security system to ensure that it is functioning correctly, and ensure that the video is operating when the closed.
6.Monitor the physical condition of the building, undertaking minor repairs yourself and reporting to the Director, or the Administrator if the Director is not in, any more serious deterioration.
7.Open up at the advertised times, and close the Museum, its storage areas, and showcases after visitors have left at the end of public hours, and securing administrative offices as required.
In your caretaking duties, you are to:
1.Vacuum museum premises on a daily basis before the museum opens to the public.
2.Clean and keep up toilets on a daily basis.
3.Clean glass cases, dust.
4.Polish brass.
5.Tidy galleries
6.Empty bins.
7.Sweep museum premises.
8.Other duties as assigned.
Your duties in support of the other members of staff as required include:
1.Assist with setting up exhibitions.
2.Set up the Seminar Room or other rooms when required for lectures and other events, and operating the audio/visual equipment.
3.Assist in receiving and checking deliveries to the shop and museum.
4.Undertaking routine tasks such as delivering leaflets, shopping or other minor duties that may require you to leave the premises.In that case, during working hours you are to make sure that at least two other members of staff are on the premises before you go.
5.When required, cover the reception and shop staff during lunch breaks.This involves:
a.Answer the telephone and take messages.
b.Be well informed on the shop diary and on expected visitors.
c.Sign up visitors for lectures and other events, receiving payment from them, and be familiar with the list of discount card holders.
d.Maintain an accurate record of visitors.
e.Operate the till, taking cash and credit cards.
6.Other duties as assigned.
