My client is a centrally based law firm and they have a new requirement for a legal secretary. The full spec is below. If you believe you have the skills and experience for this then please apply.
The Post
The post is for a Legal Secretary to provide secretarial support and assistance to a partner and any other fee earners within the department as required. There is scope to move onto a Legal Assistant. The firm also offers assistance to secretaries wishing to pursue a career down the ILEX route.
Your Tasks
Dealing with clients in person and on the telephone; typing, word processing of correspondence and documents; faxing; filing; photo-copying; preparing precedents of documents and storing them on the computer; liaising with the accounts department on preparation and payment of bills; dealing with any administrative tasks required by your immediate boss; helping out other secretaries and fee earners as requested by your immediate boss or the Head of Unit in charge of your Unit/Department. Familiarising yourself with the Office manual.
Requirements
1. Operating a computer – it will be necessary for the candidate to have knowledge and prior experience of computers, although training is given for Case Management/SOS Practice Manager/Word/Outlook and Oyez forms
2. Typing - audio and copy
3. Time recording
4. Faxing
5. Photo-copying
6. Operating the switchboard where necessary
7. Telephone skills
8. Inter-personal skills when dealing with clients and others
9. Able to work under pressure showing commitment to your boss, your colleagues and the firm in general
10. Maintaining a diary and postal services where necessary
11. Making tea and coffee for your boss, other staff members and clients when requested to do so.
Additional Requirements
Personal qualities are important. The candidate would be expected to work as part of a team with other members of the Unit.
A sense of humour is essential along with the ability to work in harmony with others, and to contribute to a pleasant working environment for all concerned.
