Purpose of the Role

To manage and develop the Company’s accounting function and system and ensure appropriate control with accurate, reliable and timely reporting.
To manage and control Corporate Goverance Compliance, Legal Compliance, and Inland Revenue (tax) procedures or any other entity relevant to a finance management role.
To manage and control the company’s contractual obligations and contracts both sales and purchasing.
To proactively support the company’s senior management team in the decision making process. 

Main Responsibilities & Duties will include, but is not exhaustive (without prejudice):

• To develop and manage the financial accounting systems and ensure the timely preparation of statutory accounts including profit & loss statements, balance sheet, and variance analysis and cash flow statements.
• To coordinate and review, on a timely basis, the preparation of management accounts and reports (with variance analysis) as required by management in accordance with agreed timetables.
• Maintain ongoing control of cash flow and report on any potential shortfalls/surplus.
• Preparation and review of annual and revised budgets and reporting of expenditure against those budgets.
• To proactively support the formulation and development of systems and procedures to enhance the companies well being.
• Ensure that relevant returns (e.g. VAT returns) are completed in compliance with statutory requirements and submitted within the set time limits.
• Preparation, negotiation and agreement of Resource Based Cost (RBC) with HUM annually, and as and when operational activities/business changes require.
• Preparation & measurement of departmental business plans and KPI’s with new initiatives carrying out approved actions and regular reporting on an agreed basis to achieve continuous improvement.
• To liaise with external suppliers ensuring the effective working of the computerised accounting system.
• Liaise with companies’ auditors, bankers, institutions and professional advisers.
• Ensure that appropriate insurance cover (buildings, contents, company liability and lease arrangements) is maintained for insurable risks where cost effective so to do. Complete all renewable declarations and liaise with the companies insurance brokers.
• Provide input to strategic decisions on financing and the expansion of the business.
• Preparation of ad-hoc reports as required.
• To regularly review the management information and accounting procedures to improve on productivity and efficiency within the business without loss of audit trail and effective control that minimises risks of errors and omissions.
• To ensure all the usual duties of a Company Secretary, so that knowledge and experience of the statutory requirements, and compliance in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure up date, accurate and timely finance information is known at times. Appropriate knowledge and understanding must be applied to financial management decision to ensure both effective and cost competitive financial management for the business.
• To proactively identify appropriate development opportunities for the finance department, ensuring that all team members are coached mentored and trained (both formally in line with operational requirements) undertake regular performance management meetings, ensuring clear objectives are established and opportunities provided to allow successful achievements within an agreed timeframe.

This will be a day shift position of 39 hours per week based on the following times, however due to the nature of the position full flexibility will be required:

Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:45
Friday 08:00 – 15:20

A full UK driving licence will be required in order to ensure full mobility between sites. Must be prepared to travel abroad on occasions.
