Our client is looking for an individual to work along side Business Service projects teams delivering web based solutions on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 platform.  The primary role will be the delivery of an intranet solution with integration with a number of internal SQL server based applications through the use and modification of web part technologies.

As part of the Development team the successful candidate will provide detailed technical advice and proactive support in the area of front-office technology, including software distribution and client operating system and application development strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • To have a high technical awareness of technology, including Microsoft back-office systems and a basic understanding of network system architectures.
  • Provide development expertise for the customisation, configuration and deployment of technology solutions.
  • Contribute to all development projects by ensuring deadlines and budgets are completed.
  • Responsible for handing over newly developed/purchased systems to ITG support teams including all relevant documentation, and provide demonstrations and workshops where necessary.
  • Communicate business issues, needs and changes to the Technical Development Manager, and offer recommendations and solutions as appropriate.
  • Research technologies in the legal technology marketplace, analyse significance and potential benefits and make recommendations as required.
  • Develop an understanding of the customer's working environment in order to develop systems/make better use of existing systems so that they effectively meet their needs and requirements.

Key skills

General Exposure to the following products or technologies is essential:

  • Windows SharePoint Services v2 / v3
  • SharePoint Portal Server 2003
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • Workflow Package such as K2, Skelta or Nintex
  • Records Management such as Documentum or Meridio.

  • IIS Administration
  • SQL Server Administration
  • SharePoint Administration
  • Active Directory Administration

Branding Skills

  • ASP.NET (Master Pages)
  • Photoshop (Graphics)
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • XHTML

Development Skills

  • VB.NET or C# (C# Preferably)
  • ASP.NET
  • Web Part Development
  • XML and XSL
  • HTML and XHTML
  • CSS

Person specification

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with customers and colleagues.
  • The ability to assist with the design and implementation of policies and processes.
  • The ability and willingness to develop accurate technical specifications through strong relationships between sponsors, users and stakeholders.
  • A good knowledge of the legal and IT sectors.
  • Good time management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Sound understanding of the project life cycle (Development of technical specifications, Software selection/customisation/upgrading and Implementation)
